Twenty-two bullets have been taken off the streets of Coventry following a police raid.

Officers carried out the warrant at a house in Nickson Road, Tile Hill, at around 2pm on Thursday January 21.

The action was sparked by concerns from local residents and was part of Operation Blue Steel − a blitz on criminals operating across the city.

Launched in 2014, Blue Steel has already seen scores of suspected criminals arrested and jailed, as well as weapons, drugs and cash being seized during a series of raids.

Superintendent Warren Little, from Coventry Police, said: “Every bullet taken off the streets of Coventry potentially represents a life saved.

“It is thanks to local people that they are prepared to speak out and work with the police to bring offenders to justice.

“If anyone wants to help us lower crime in Coventry by passing us information on persons concerned in crime, they can contact us directly on 101 or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.”
