Police have launched an investigation into the attack, which happened at the junction with Billing Road and Oldfield Road in Chapelfields, on Tuesday between 11.30am-noon.

Two men were inside the shop when they started arguing. The row spilled outside when one of the men picked up a brick and threw it at the other man, who is disabled, twice.

On one occasion the brick missed the man, but hit the door of the newsagents damaging the glass. A bystander who saw the incident then stepped in and chased the attacker away

The incident was caught on camera by a member of the public, who posted an image of the suspect on Facebook.

That image has since been deleted but not before a number of people suggested the attacker’s name.

A spokesman for Coventry Police confirmed that officers were looking into the details posted on Facebook.

CCTV of the incident is also being analysed by officers.

Anyone with information should call police on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.

It's more of an off-licence than a newsagents these days and I suspect that played a part in the attack?
