Sainsbury's has announced plans to axe jobs at its store support centre in Coventry.
The retail giant looks set to cut 500 jobs across three sites - including its base at Ansty Park where it employs around 1,000 workers. The two other sites are Manchester and London.
The job losses are part of the company’s plans to streamline its central operations, which will also see Sainsbury’s combine its supermarkets and convenience store businesses.
With some central functions losing staff and others taking more on, Sainsbury’s said it expected around 500 fewer roles, spread across all divisions and grades in its store support centres.
The cuts represent about 13 per cent of staff in the roles affected, say bosses.
