29 cars broken into in 24 hours in east of city

Thieves broke into 29 cars during a 24-hour crime spree in the east of the city.

Latest crime wave took place in Binley, Ernesford Grange and Willenhall areas

Between 11am on Tuesday and 11am on Wednesday 12 streets in the Binley, Ernesford Grange and Willenhall areas were targeted, with electrical equipment, sat navs and a set of golf clubs being pinched.

Thefts were reported in Edward Bailey Close, Ashdown Close, Langbank Avenue, Nene Close, Garth Crescent, Joseph Creighton Close, Fairmile Close, Exeter Close, John Maguire Crescent, Princethorpe Way, Chard Road and Barford Close.

Pc Craig Simpson, from the Binley and Willenhall neighbourhood team, said: “We are working hard to find the culprits but we need people to come forward with information.

“If you saw anyone acting suspiciously please contact us.

“Even if you feel that the information is not important please let us know.

“Patrols in the area have been stepped up and if anyone wants to speak to their local officers around the thefts then please approach them or call us.”

Thief admits being behind Ernesford Grange car crime spree

A man has admitted breaking into more than 20 cars during a two day vehicle crime spree in Coventry.

Daniel Thompson, aged 20, of no fixed address, appeared at Coventry Magistrates Court on Saturday where he admitted one count of vehicle interference, five thefts from motor vehicles and asked for 17 other vehicle crime offences to be taken into consideration.

He was remanded in custody and will be sentenced at the same court on December 8.

An 18-year-old arrested on suspicion of stealing from cars is on police bail.
