Flooring firm Amtico was forced to evacuate employees shortly after 3pm after a roof fire was believed to have been started by contractors working on the site.

Nobody was injured by the blaze, in Kingfield Road, Foleshill, which was attended by five fire engines.

Ambulance crews also rushed to the scene, but they left after it was clear nobody had been harmed.

Jonathan Duck, chief executive of Amtico, said: “We have had some contractors in cutting some metal and that will possibly have been it.

“It’s just an inconvenience really, we’ll be back in operation within a few hours.

“Nobody was hurt, we evacuated the factory very quickly and the fire service were here extremely promptly.”

Firefighters were previously called to the site in June after a machine had caught fire.
