17 jobs lost as Nuneaton pub closes

Last orders have been called at another Nuneaton pub.



The Abbey, in Newdegate Street in the town centre, has closed its doors, with the loss of 17 jobs.

Matt Hardy, from liquidators Poppleton & Appleby, said: “The owner of the property, who is a locally-based businessman, had taken on the running of the bar and food business late last year when previous operators had ceased trading.

“He has owned the property for 12 years, but has decided it can no longer continue in its present form after the business failed to overcome severe operational difficulties.

“He has not taken this step lightly, having initially taken over the running of business to try to keep it going and prevent people from losing their jobs and would like to thank customers for their trade.”
