A 48-year-old man from Coventry has died after being struck by a car on a dual carriageway during the early hours of this morning.
The accident, which involved an Audi, happened on Fletchamstead Highway, on the edge of the city centre, just after 1am.
A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokesman said: “Crews arrived to find a car and a pedestrian that had been in a collision.
“Unfortunately, it quickly became apparent that nothing could be done to save the pedestrian and he was confirmed dead at the scene.”
He added that the driver of car was treated for shock, but did not need hospital treatment.
Police are now investigating the cause of the crash and have called for witnesses to come forward.
Sgt Paul Hughes, from the collision investigation unit, said: “The crash happened opposite a busy pub, the Phantom Coach, and there may have been a number of people outside on such a warm night.”
