A swimming pool in Warwickshire remains closed after a roof collapsed and debris fell in the water.Glass fibre insulation landed in the main pool at Bedworth Leisure Centre on Monday and more has been removed from the roof to avoid further damage.
Nuneaton and Bedworth Leisure Trust said staff have cleared the pool and they are now awaiting results of precautionary microbiological tests.
The trust hopes to reopen the pool on Monday, depending on the test results.
Nuneaton and Bedworth borough councillor Ian Lloyd said checks should have been made.
Mr Lloyd said: "I can only apologise to the people that were in the pool.
"It shouldn't have happened. It did happen. In hindsight we should have inspected the whole of the roof.
"We've had a leak in the guttering. Some pieces of the insulation have got sodden and come through the roof.
"It's not the external roof we're talking about. It's the soft furnishings of the roof."

Bedworth Leisure Centre pools to shut after ceiling collapse
Two swimming pools will close for up to 10 weeks after part of a leisure centre roof collapsed in the summer.
Both pools at Bedworth Leisure Centre, Warwickshire, will shut from 13 January while a new ceiling is fitted and roof repairs take place.
Nuneaton and Bedworth Borough Council said the new roof would be guaranteed for 20 years.
Other site facilities, such as the gym and café, will remain open during the work.
Councillor Ian Lloyd, for arts and leisure, said: "I understand that this may prove to be an inconvenience for regular service users and I apologise on behalf of the Council for that.
"I acknowledge that it has taken a while for us to get to this point but it is essential we took the time ensuring the best value and repair plan before moving forwards."
