Paris crash Concorde 'was unfit to fly', manslaughter trial is told as names of 113 victims are read

The Concorde crash in Paris ten years ago was the result of poor maintenance, it was alleged yesterday.

An official French inquiry blamed U.S. airline Continental for the accident, concluding that a titanium strip fell off one of its DC-10s and subsequently punctured the Air France Concorde's tyre as it took off from Charles de Gaulle airport, causing it to burst into flames.

But as Continental Airlines and five individuals went on trial accused of being responsible for the deaths of 109 people on the plane and four on the ground, the lawyer for Continental questioned this version.
