A former amusement arcade is to be turned into a Japanese restaurant and karaoke bar.

Plans have been submitted to the city council to change the use of the old Fun Bobs arcade on Hales Street.

The Observer reported last year how the arcade's owner Russell Fletcher sexually abused young girls over eight years between 2003 and 2011.

The 46-year-old was jailed for five years after admitting eight counts of sexual assault on girls aged 13 and 14.

He was sentenced to a further three years in prison last month after another victim, who was aged 11 at the time she was targeted, came forward.

London firm Music Box Investment Ltd has drawn up plans to use the building.

In the application it said Japanese restaurants and karaoke bars were popular in Asia, and were gaining popularity in this country.

A date has yet to be set for the council to consider the plans.

I'd be happy if they just removed all traces of what it was previously used for.
