Norovirus ends weekend visits to George Eliot Hospital

George Eliot Hospital in Nuneaton has barred visits for the weekend due to an outbreak of the winter vomiting bug.

The norovirus is not normally considered a threat to healthy people, but could be a risk to already weakened hospital patients.

Hospital authorities will allow visits on compassionate grounds, provided visitors call the relevant ward in advance.

The decision to close the hospital will be reviewed on Monday.
