Five medals stolen during raid on Coventry home...

Postby dutchman » Mon Mar 04, 2013 10:20 am

FIVE medals including an MBE have been stolen during a break-in at a Coventry home.

Thieves raided the property in Edward Bailey Close, Willenhall, by smashing and climbing through a downstairs window during the daytime on Valentine’s Day last month.

The medals had been awarded to the victim’s late mother and father.

Other medals stolen include the Royal Victorian Order, the 1939-45 Star of the British Commonwealth and the Defence Medal.

PC Simon Cleal, from Coventry Police, said: "I’d ask anyone who may have been offered the items recently in suspicious circumstances to contact me.

"These are distinctive items and they clearly have sentimental value to the victim. Someone out there will know where they are and I would urge them to do the right thing and come forward."

Witnesses or anyone with information should call Coventry Police on 101 or the independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
