Trains cancelled in Coventry and Warwickshire

Fri Mar 01, 2013 10:20 am

COMMUTERS are facing rail misery this morning as trains are cancelled in Coventry and Warwickshire due to overhead wire problems.

There are no London Midland trains running between London and Coventry, Rugby and Nuneaton rail stations.

The delays have been caused by overhead line wires in Hanslope Junction near Milton Keynes which are expected to last all day.

London Midland tickets can be used on East Midland trains and Chiltern Railways between Birmingham Moor Street and London Marylebone.

Coaches will also be running as a replacement service after 9am.

West Coast Main Line: Services resume

The West Coast Main Line has re-opened after damage to overhead wires shut the line between Milton Keynes and Northampton.

The incident at the Hanslope Junction near Wolverton in Buckinghamshire had disrupted services out of London Euston since 05:00 GMT.

Network Rail said it gave the all clear for lines to reopen from 16:15 GMT.

There will be residual delays because trains have been in the wrong place.

A spokesman said repairs would be carried out on Saturday night as weekend services were able to run with the lines available.

"Waiting until Saturday night means we can take advantage of the reduced Sunday service level to do the work without disruption," he added.

A full list of affected routes and replacement bus services can be found on the National Rail Enquiries website.

Virgin said passengers could use their tickets on other operators services along certain routes.
