The Broad Street library is to close on from Monday 18 March and will reopen the following Monday. (25 March)

All of the stock will be removed from the venue to allow a new carpet to be will be laid. The opportunity will also been taken to refresh the paintwork in some areas.

During the closure a mobile library will be outside situated on Broad Street and will be open 9am to 7pm on weekdays, 9am to 4pm on Saturday and 12pm to 4pm on Sunday.

Councillor David Kershaw, Coventry City Council's Cabinet Member for Libraries and Adult Education, apologised for any inconvenience the closure will cause.

He said: "It is regrettable that we will have to temporarily close the library but it is the only way we can carry the work out as quickly and safely as possible.

"I think this work, like similar improvement work at Central and Radford libraries, shows our belief in and commitment to the 17 libraries across our city.

'By maintaining our libraries and making them more pleasant places for the community, we are showing our recognition of the value of the service."

Any items due to be returned to Foleshill Library during the works can be returned to the mobile library or any other city library. All items will automatically have the due date extended until the following week.

Anyone with any questions should contact Foleshill Library on 024 7678 6977 or Central Library on 024 7683 2314.
