Free parking in Coventry after 3pm in run-up to Xmas...

Postby dutchman » Sat Dec 08, 2012 3:56 pm

FREE parking will be offered in Coventry city centre every weekday after 3pm to entice more Christmas shoppers in.

Coventry City Council says the offer is in response to the Telegraph’s Save Our Shops campaign.

From Monday off-street parking will be free after 3pm in the run-up to Christmas to bring the shoppers in.

Car parks taking part are West Orchards, Barracks, Cox Street, Salt Lane, Bishop Street, Cheylesmore, New Union Street, Gosford Street, Grosvenor Road, Lower Ford Street, Manor House Drive and Whitefriars Street.

Coun Lynnette Kelly has set up a task force to support the SOS campaign

She said: “We wanted to do something and do it fast – and I think this offer will help to support both local people and city centre shops.

“These are difficult economic times and I hope this move will help ease the pressure in the build-up to Christmas.

“It will run until Christmas Eve and I hope lots of people will take advantage of it and support our city centre shops at the same time.”

Too little, and far too late.
Of course it'll fit; you just need a bigger hammer.
