Search for pub attacker who stood out from the crowd

An arthritis sufferer who struggles to walk was kicked to the floor of a Coventry pub by a group of thugs.



The victim, a man in his 40s, had been enjoying a night out with his brother when they struck in Stoke's Hastings pub on Saturday night (August 11).

His brother was also hit across the head at the Clay Lane site, leaving him needing stitches to a nasty gash.

It is understood the main aggressor was a white male around 6ft 1in tall. He was with up to five others - who were all around 5ft 6ins - so detectives are hoping he may have stood out to potential witnesses.

Detective Constable Neil Gill said: "He was around half a foot taller than the other men in his group and would have stood out from his crowd so I'm hoping someone may have noticed them in or near the Hastings pub on Saturday night and will contact us with information.

"The offenders were at the Hastings pub between 8pm and 9pm. I'm really keen to hear from anyone who may have seen this group in the pub, earlier in the evening or after the attack.

"The main offender was wearing a white T-shirt and due to the ferocity of the attack there's every chance his T-shirt may have been smattered with blood spots.

"This was a nasty attack on two brothers who wanted to enjoy a quiet night out and I'd appeal to anyone with information to contact us."

The tall attacker is said to be in his 30s, slim build, with short dark hair and clean shaven. He was wearing a white T-shirt, blue jeans and white trainers.

His friends - all white men - are also said to be in their 30s but only 5ft 6ins tall.
