The 18-year-old won through a tough semi-final at Champneys in Leicester and now faces a two-day decider later this month, with the winner going forward to bid for the Miss World Beauty title in Mauritius.

As reported in the Telegraph, Jodie had to overcome an emergency operation for a ruptured appendix 18 months ago, but after taking a year out to recover the former Alderman Smith student has her sights on a showbiz career.

There was no Miss England joy for Bedworth’s Karla Fitzpatrick, who took her place in the semi-final line-up despite a spell in hospital with a serious stomach condition and breaking a wrist in a boxing fitness session.

The former Nuneaton Carnival Queen competed in the four rounds – a morning bootcamp, an interview and two fashion show catwalks in evening dress and eco wear – but failed to make the qualifying 16.
