Irish dancers, traditional food and live music were part of the entertainment put on by the Coventry Irish Society on Wednesday.

It was part of a series of events being put on by the society to mark the big day tomorrow, culminating in a St Patrick’s Day Dinner and Dance at Britannia Hotel from 7pm.

The event will include a traditional Irish three-course meal, live music from Richard Gissane and Billy Nagle, a disco and a performance by the Celtica School of Irish Dance.

Tomorrow morning there will also be a St Patrick’s Feast Day Mass and Blessing of the Shamrock at St Osburg’s Church, in Hill Street, at 11.30am.

Local band Shannon Sound will be performing popular Irish music at the Terrace Bar & Grill, Ryley Street, from 1pm.

For more information about the events contact Kerrie Day, from the Irish Society, on 024 7625 6629 or email kerrie.day@covirishsoc.org.uk
