Flooding has damaged four floors of a Coventry block of flats following a burst water main.

Fire crews from Radford and Binley were called to the 15-storey block, Thomas King House, in Wellington Street, Hillfields, at about 4am on Saturday.

They evacuated residents from flats on the ground, first, second and third floor of the building.

A West Midlands Fire Service spokeswoman said: “The incident involved a burst water main in a block of flats.

“Water was isolated from the water main and the electrics on the affected floors.”

Officers from Whitefriars were alerted to the incident. They attended the scene to assess the damage.

I remember a similar flood originating in an unoccupied property opposite me and the Whitefriars' manager being really annoyed the Fire Brigade dragged him out of bed in the early hours of the morning in order to gain access to the building
