A family dog has been killed by burglars as they broke into a house in Nuneaton.

12-year old Gypsy (pictured) was the only one in the house on Weddington Lane in Caldecote when someone broke in between 2 and 3pm last Tuesday.

It’s believed Gypsy was by the back door when they forced it through and was hit as it fell.

When the family got back they found Gypsy and then realised a watch, necklaces and bracelets had been taken.

Peter Marshall, who is leading the investigation at Warwickshire Police said: “I would appreciate hearing from anyone who saw anything suspicious in the area of Weddington Lane, near to Caldecote Lane.

“Someone may have seen people behaving suspiciously or a car parked nearby. The alarm was activated when the house was broken in to and someone may have heard this.”

Anyone with information can call him at Nuneaton police station on 01926 415000, extension 3040, voicemail 14027. Alternatively you can call the charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
