Mavis Papadopoulos completed her last day at Tile Hill Health Centre, in Jardine Crescent, on Tuesday – her 58th birthday.

She has been team leader for district nurses at the centre looking after patients with chronic illness and providing end-of-life care.

The grandmum had been working for the Primary Care Trust in Willenhall, Stoke Aldermoor, and more recently Tile Hill.

Colleagues treated her to a farewell lunch and presentation.

She said: “I’ve seen huge changes in the trust – we used to work in a much smaller team and now we have a larger workforce in much larger buildings.

Mavis says she will return to work as a part-time nurse to slowly break herself into retirement.

She added: “It would be too difficult to leave entirely but it will be nice to have less responsibility and spend time with my family.”
