Birmingham City have confirmed that Alex McLeish has resigned as manager of Birmingham City.
Acting chairman Peter Pannu has said he received an e-mail resignation from McLeish earlier today while away on business in Amsterdam.
Pannu has also exclusively told Mercia Head of Sport Tom Ross that he does not give Alex McLeish permission to talk to any club as he is still a Birmingham City Football Club contracted staff member. Pannu also says he is speaking to his legal team.
McLeish joined Blues in November 2007 during a season which saw them relegated to the Championship. He lead them back to the Premier League at the first attempt, staying up for two seasons. They were relegated to the championship after a dramatic last day of the season just gone – despite beating Arsenal at Wembley to lift the Carling Cup.
