A landlady's has spoken of the terrifying moment her Coventry pub was stormed by raiders brandishing a gun.
Kelly Jackson was clearing up at the Bull & Anchor pub in Wheelwright Lane, Ash Green, in the early hours of Sunday when four men armed with a gun, a knife, a crowbar and a hammer burst in through the front door.
Speaking to the Telegraph, she said: “I was putting some glasses behind the bar and I saw a car speed up to the front of the pub.
“I saw black figures coming towards us and then I knew we were going to be robbed. They then got in by kicking in the glass in the door.”
Miss Jackson’s partner, a member of staff and two customers were also in the pub at the time of the raid, which took place shortly after 12.30am.
One quick-thinking customer locked themselves inside a toilet and called the police as the men forced their way inside the pub.
But Miss Jackson has since complained it took police 15 minutes for officers to respond to the call.
Once inside, the men threatened the staff and forced them to hand over cash.
A customer attempted to stop the gang’s escape by throwing a table at them.
One of the gang then threw a large chair at him and left him with a head injury. The robbers then fled the scene with their haul.
