The frightened children looked on in horror as their mum’s hair was pulled back by one of the men who then threatened her with a gun and demanded cash.

The robbers forced their way into the large house in the Tower Estate, near the town centre, by kicking in a back door.

Det Con Adie Hunter, of Warwickshire Police, said: “This was very frightening for all four of the victims, with the girls having to witness their mother being held by her hair and threatened with a hand gun while cash was demanded.

“Luckily no one was injured, but they are very traumatised.”

The incident happened at 12.25am on Thursday and the robbers escaped with more than £600.

The man brandishing a black gun, with a silver silencer screwed to the barrel, is described as about 5ft 11ins and of average build.

He is in his early 20s and possibly had a deep local accent. He was wearing a black hooded jacket and blue jeans and his face was covered by a dark scarf.

His accomplice was approximately 5ft 8ins, thick set and wearing a white hooded top.
