Forensic teams search flat in hunt for missing woman

Forensic teams have started a major search of a flat in Coventry after a tip-off that a missing woman may have been harmed.



Police decided to start examining the address on Meriden Street in Radford after a member of the public came forward with possible information about Shauna Lee (pictured).

The 36-year old – who also uses the names of Debbie Lee and Debbie Frost – was last seen at the flat back in November last year.

All her belongings have already been removed by police, and a detailed, extensive search of the apartment will be carried out over the next few days. The work began Thursday afternoon.

Coventry Police Chief Inspector Kerry Blakeman, said: “We will be going through the property with a fine-toothed comb…if there are any clues, even the tiniest fragment, which may shed light on what’s happened to Shauna I’m confident we’ll find it.

“Specifically we will be using specialist dogs and lighting equipment which will reveal any evidence indicating Shauna has come to harm within the flat.

“To date we’ve made extensive enquiries with friends, family, and associates; looked into her financial affairs and benefits; spoken to her doctor; alerted hospitals; and raised Shauna’s profile nationally through missing persons’ organisations.

“As a result of the previous appeal, members of the public came forward saying they believed Shauna was still in Coventry. Those lines of enquiry have been pursued but Shauna has still not been found.”

“Her disappearance can’t be explained and according to family members is out of character for Shauna… they are very worried about her and say it was unusual for her not to be in contact, especially over the Christmas period.

“We’d urge anyone who knows where Shauna is staying to come forward so officers can check she is safe and not in need of medical attention.”

Shauna is described as white, about 5ft 5ins tall, with short spiked blonde hair. She has blue-green eyes, sometimes wears glasses, and speaks with a Coventry accent.
