The Crown Prosecution Service have decided there is not enough evidence to take action against Doherty, his minder Johnny Jeannevol or friend Paul Roundhill.

30-year old Mark Blanco dead when he plunged from a balcony shortly after a confrontation with all three of them at a bash in Whitechapel in London in December 2006.

Mr Blanco’s family say they have evidence he was unlawfully killed and had launched a lengthy campaign for justice after two police reports and an inquest failed to establish just what triggered his fall.

But in a meeting at the CPS’ central London headquarters today, Jenny Hopkins, head of the organisation’s complex casework, said: “None of the evidence is capable of establishing to the required standard that Mr Blanco was thrown or pushed from the balcony or that any other individual was present at the time he fell.

“If any further evidence does come to light, we will, of course, review our decision in accordance with our normal practices.

Mr Blanco’s mother Sheila accused police of staging a cover-up as she said she was “disappointed but not surprised” by the CPS decision.

“It is a police cover-up – I really did not expect anything better,” she said.

“What we do in the future is not yet clear but I am going away.

“There are three people involved in this. Obviously I am disappointed with Doherty for not coming forward to help more with the investigation.

The Babyshambles frontman is currently on tour and was interviewed by police but never arrested over the death.
