Coventry Bees captain Eddie Kennett says he is pleased with his new role at the club having taken over skippering duties for the 2011 season.
Bees begin the defence of their Elite League title at home to Birmingham on Friday and warmed up with a 50-40 win over Peterborough on Saturday.
Kennett told BBC Coventry & Warwickshire: "I'm enjoying it. All the boys are gelling well together.
"If we can take this meeting through to Friday hopefully we can do the same."
Coventry's victory over Panthers was not enough to overturn a 32-point deficit in the two-legged challenge, called the Hokey Cokey Cup, with Peterborough winning 102-80 on aggregate.
