A crumbling car park in Coventry city centre will be shut from today for essential repairs.
The council says it needs to cordon off the Barracks to speed up work to repair and renovate the ramps there.
Only the disabled spots and the Shop Mobility section will remain open – every other level will be closed until 16th April.
Martin Yardley, Director of City Services and Development, said: “I would like to apologise for any inconvenience this closure will cause.”
“But we need to carry out essential repairs – and by closing the car park we can get in and out as quickly as possible.”
“Getting the work done also means the car park will be open again in time for the Easter holidays.”
In the meantime, drivers are being advised to use the Lower Precinct – which is linked to the Barracks – and other sites like New Union Street, West Orchards and Cox Street.
