A teenager has has been banned from keeping animals for 10 years after admitting to tying her puppy to a tree and leaving it to die in Nuneaton.
The 3-month old was only saved when a walker spotted him on a park opposite the Cherry Tree pub back in November.
He was then taken to the RSPCA and found to be malnourished.
19-year old Amie Smith from The Circle in Stockingford’s pleaded guilty to an offence under the Animal Welfare Act.
As well as being banned from keeping animals for ten years she was told to pay £225 in fines and costs.
Inspector Helen Smith from the RSPCA said: “It is fantastic to see this case come before court and for the court to send such a strong message to anyone who thinks they can abandon an unwanted animal in this way.
“We see so many instances where animals are callously dumped and left to fend for themselves, yet often we are never able to find out who is responsible for such blatant acts of neglect. It makes today’s result all the more pleasing that we’ve been able to reach a successful conclusion.”
