Detectives are investigating a hammer attack on a Nuneaton shopkeeper last week.
Two men threatened the victim, who needed hospital treatment, for cash from the till at Camphill Food and Wines at around 7:15pm last Tuesday night.
Passers-by disturbed the offenders and they walked out of the premises and along Craddock Drive empty-handed.
PC Gemma Carroll from Warwickshire Police said: “The offenders assaulted the shopkeeper when he was alone in the shop and subjected him to a severe and sustained attack.”
“Anyone who noticed any suspicious activity near to the shop before or after the incident or who saw two men walking away from Craddock Drive around 7.20 pm is urged to contact me.”
“Any information would be appreciated, no matter how small and insignificant it may appear.”
Information can be passed to PC Carroll at Nuneaton CID on 01926 415000 (voicemail 11668) or Crimestoppers – anonymously – on 0800 555 111.
