Multi-million pound plans to redevelop the site of a landmark Coventry factory could create hundreds of new jobs.
Proposals will be submitted later this month for the old Courtaulds site in Little Heath.
The ambitious proposals include hundreds of homes, sports pitches and a pavilion, as well as lots of open space and office buildings.
There could also be a care home or a hotel on the land, which in itself would create about 150 new jobs.
Owners of the former factory in Old Church Road – which was demolished last March – have been liaising with the local community for six months to help draw up the plans.
The outline application to agree to the principle of developing the site, will be submitted to Coventry City Council within weeks.
It is thought the site will be constructed in phases and it is hoped the development will be completed by 2020.
Laurie Lane, of property consultants CBRE, said the plans were designed to transform a derelict site and breathe new life into the Old Church Road area.
She added: “The owners have taken a great deal of time and care in working up plans for this site.
"We have held a public exhibition and consulted with residents directly, as well as talking to local ward groups and the city council.
"We believe the mix of development and the attention we have paid to creating a real community with meaningful open space and leisure areas will transform the whole district.
