Masked raiders armed with hammer, crow bar and hunting knife threatened pub staff and stole money from the safe.
The incident took place at the Griffin Inn in Coventry Road, Nuneaton, Warwickshire, in the early hours of Sunday.
Warwickshire Police said four members of staff were tidying up when the three offenders came in through a back door.
Three staff members were forced to open a safe while one thief held a knife close to another staff member's face.
The thieves also took mobile phones and left the pub after locking the staff in a stairwell.
The men, all wearing hoodies and scarves around their faces, made off on foot before getting into one or more parked cars nearby.
