A Coventry community has been hit by so much knife crime that extra action has had to be taken.

The Willenhall area has seen a rise in knife crime, according to latest West Midlands police statistics.

As a result of this, a new weapon surrender bin has been installed at the Hagard Community Centre on Remembrance Road.

Local partners, including violence prevention leads and community organisations, identified the centre as a suitable location for the bin, which is an anonymous way for members of the public to dispose of unwanted knives, blades and other dangerous weapons.
