Young boy seriously injured after e-bike hit-and-run in Longford

A young boy was seriously injured in a hit-and-run in Coventry. He was struck by an e-bike on Burbages Lane in Longford.

Police were called to Burbages Lane at around 6.55pm on Wednesday (August 19). Medics arrived at the scene to find a young boy had been hit by an e-bike and was badly injured.

Crews found the boy had suffered serious injuries to his legs, arm and head. He was rushed to University Hospital Coventry.

Anyone who witnessed the incident is urged to contact Warwickshire Police. Information can be provided on 101 or anonymously through Crimestoppers.

A spokesman for Warwickshire Police said: “Were you on Burbages Lane in Longford around 6.55pm on Wednesday? We are appealing for witnesses after a collision between a pedestrian and the rider of an e-bike who failed to stop.

“A young boy was taken to hospital with leg, arm and head injuries that are not life-threatening. If you saw what happened, have dashcam or doorbell footage of what happened or can help in any way, please contact us, quoting incident 366 of August 19.”

West Midlands Ambulance Service said: “We were called to reports of an RTC on Burbages Lane in Longford at 6.55pm on Wednesday. Crews were informed a child and an electric bike had been involved in a collision, and the child, a boy, was treated for serious injuries and conveyed to University Hospital Coventry and Warwickshire.”
