The level of trust and confidence West Midlands residents have in their police force is to be measured in a major two-year survey.

West Midlands Police and Crime Commissioner (PCC), Simon Foster, said data will be collated quarterly and enable "dynamic" policing priorities to be set.

Independent researchers will carry out door-to-door interviews with households selected at random across Birmingham, Coventry, Dudley, Sandwell, Solihull, Walsall, and Wolverhampton.

"This survey is about giving the public a direct, ongoing voice in how they are policed," Foster said, launching the research project on Monday.

The findings would also indicate if resources were being used effectively to improve community safety and build public confidence in policing, he added.

Yes, I'm sure they won't fiddle the results of the survey in the same way they don't fiddle the crime statistics to show what a fantastic job the PCC is doing!
