Work will be taking place in Coventry on Saturday and Sunday
Passengers are being urged to check their journeys ahead of major railway upgrades in Coventry. Work will be carried out over Saturday and Sunday.
Teams from Network Rail will be replacing tracks, improving drainage, and upgrading the devices that allow trains to switch tracks at junctions. Upgrades will keep the railway safe for thousands of passengers and freight trains carrying essential goods.
Trains will not be calling at Coventry or Birmingham International on Saturday (November 1) and Sunday (November 2). Buses will be operating instead.
Travellers are urged to plan ahead this weekend. Once the improvements are completed, Network Rail said they will help provide more reliable journeys.
Martin Colmey, from Network Rail, said: “Essential track upgrades will help keep the railway safe and reliable for years to come. We know there is never a good time to close the railway, but this work has been carefully planned to keep disruption to a minimum, and we thank passengers for their patience while we do the work.”
He continued: “If you are planning to travel, please plan ahead, allowing extra time for your journey, and check before you travel for the latest journey information and travel advice.”
