Atherstone Town to resign from Zamaretto League

Atherstone Town have announced their intention to resign from the Zamaretto League and join the Midland Alliance at the end of the season.

The Atherstone board told the club website: "We are unable to continue with the level of costs required to maintain a football club at this level.

"In terms of non-debt, we are in a comfortable position, but our capacity to raise income is very limited."

The Adders, formed back in 2004, are currently 14th in Division One Central.

The message on the website continued: "When our finances permit and fortune favours us on the pitch, we also hope one day to make a return."
