Ghulam Abbass was sentenced to 10 years in jail at Warwick Crown Court
A Coventry man who sexually assaulted a young girl in the city has been jailed. Ghulam Abbass subjected his victim to a year-long campaign of abuse but has now been brought to justice.
Abbass, 47, was charged with multiple counts of sexually assaulting a child under 13. He was also charged with assaulting a child by penetration and found guilty by a jury at Warwick Crown Court.
Abbass kissed and touched the breasts of his young victim on several occasions between August 2017 and August 2018. A jury heard he touched her in a sexual manner several times.
Abbass, of Smith Street, Coventry, was sentenced to 10 years in jail at Warwick Crown Court in July. He is also banned from working with children and vulnerable people when he is released.
A spokesman for West Midlands Police said: “We know it can be difficult to report rape or sexual assault. We understand that there are lots of reasons people choose not to report, and it is always your choice.
“We are here for you, and we will look after you, whatever you decide to do. It does not matter who you are or what has happened to you. You have the same right to be heard and to justice as everyone else.”
