Supercuts has issued a statement after the sudden closure of its busy salon in Coventry. Its West Orchards-based premises closed with immediate effect last Friday (May 16).

Staff claimed they were only informed on Monday (May 12) and are said to be 'devastated.' Images obtained by CoventryLive show the inside of the premises has been emptied.

Bosses at Supercuts said they were 'asked to leave' the premises in West Orchards Shopping Centre. Managers are said to be planning an alternative use of the building, which is based next to McDonalds and Star Pins.

Signs have been placed on the window of the building in West Orchards. One says: 'We would like to inform all our guests that your nearest salon will be Supercuts Stratford, 15A Wood Street, CV37 6JF.'

It added that the Stratford Supercuts team can be contacted on 01789 295626. Other Midlands-based branches are located at the Birmingham Bullring and on Pedmore Road in Merry Hill.

A spokesman for Supercuts told CoventryLive: “We informed all guests of the Supercuts Coventry branch closure via email on Friday, May 16. Our landlord served notice to us and asked us to leave the current Supercuts location as they are planning an alternative use of the space.

“We have been unable to identify a new viable location to relocate to in Coventry. Supercuts in Stratford and Supercuts in Birmingham are the closest salons.”

CoventryLive has approached West Orchards Shopping Centre.
