Bus routes have had to be diverted
A faulty level crossing has led to the closure of a busy Coventry road. Barriers became stuck on Barker Butts Lane on Monday morning (12 May).
The incident, which was reported just after 10am, had led to the diversion of two bus routes in the area. At this time it is not known when the problem will be fixed and the road reopened. Traffic reporting site Inrix raised the issue on its site at 10.18am.
The post read: "Barkers Butts Lane in both directions closed due to level crossing failure between Stanier Avenue and Thompson Avenue. Traffic is coping well. Diversion - for buses 7 and 7A."
National Express Coventry has advised travellers of the issue on social media. A post on its X account at 10.02am read: "Service Update: Due to railway crossing barriers stuck down by Barker Butts Lane Service 7, 7A is on diversion in both directions via Barker Butts Lane, Moselsey Ave, Holyhead Rd.
"Apologies for any disruption caused to your journey." CoventryLive has approached Network Rail for more information about the ongoing issue.
