Martin Edgar was found with serious head injuries on Waterloo Street in Hillfields
Tributes have been paid to a 'beloved son and brother' who died after being found seriously injured in Coventry. Martin Edgar was allegedly attacked in Hillfields in the early hours of Tuesday morning (February 11).
Police rushed to Waterloo Street at around 4am on Tuesday. Martin, 42, was taken to hospital with serious head injuries but tragically died on Friday (February 14).
A 24-year-old man, who has not been named, was charged with wounding on Thursday (February 13). He was remanded into custody ahead of a hearing at Coventry Crown Court tomorrow (February 17).
Officers said they will be reviewing the charge in connection with the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS). Detective Inspector Phil Poole said they are 'doing all they can' to establish exactly what happened.
Today, the family of Martin paid tribute to him, saying: “With broken hearts we as a family must come to terms with the loss of our beloved son and brother, who has grown his angel wings.
“One of the 'branches' has fallen from our family tree. Sleep peacefully, Martin. Forever in our hearts. Your loving family.”
Detective Inspector Phil Poole, from West Midlands Police, said: “A man has tragically lost his life and we will be doing all we can to establish exactly what happened and why
