At one point there were six police cars and a dog van on Church RoadPolice discovered signs of a cannabis factory in operation at a former Nuneaton working men's club. They had been alerted to what was the Green Bear pub due to concerns about 'people going in and out.'
The old Church Road working men's club has stood empty for more than two years after Warwickshire Fire and Rescue Service issued an order for the Church Road-based pub to close amid safety fears. Only last year, an application was made for it to be bulldozed to make way for apartments.
But no works have taken place since. However, six police cars and a dog van were spotted outside the former club earlier this afternoon (January 15).
CoventryLive contacted Warwickshire Police and a spokesperson explained that initially officers went along following safety concerns about 'people going in and out' of the building. But when they forced their way in, they found the makings of a cannabis factory in operation.
Officers taped off the front entrance to the club and investigations are now ongoing to find out who is behind the set-up.
