A yellow weather warning is in place for wind across Coventry and Warwickshire over the weekend. It has been imposed by the Met Office between 3pm today and 6am on Sunday.
Nuneaton and Bedworth Borough Council announced earlier today the Saturday market would no go ahead due to forecast high winds. Sometime traders are allowed to continue from their vans, however a full cancellation has been put in place for tomorrow, December 7.
Tomorrow's forecast for Nuneaton sees hours of rain from around 4am and gusts of wind approaching gale force. The strongest predicted at the time of writing is around 56mph tomorrow afternoon.
During the morning gusts of around 53mph are forecast. Posting on Facebook, the council said: "There will be a full cancellation of Nuneaton market on Saturday 7 December 2024. This is due to the current weather forecast for heavy rain and gales from Storm Darragh, reaching 29mph/59 gusts."
Elsewhere in the UK amber and even red weather warnings are in place. Many events face cancellation.
In Warwickshire the first of Stratford's Christmas Markets has been postponed due to the weather. An alternative date is being arranged.
