Bedworth Christmas light switch on 2024 has been 'scaled back' due to the threat of Storm Bert. The annual event is being held in the town centre tomorrow (November 23).

But due to the threat of 'strong rain, snow and winds' from Storm Bert, Nuneaton and Bedworth Borough Council has said that some changes are being made to the switch-on event.

The Town Hall said that it looked at rescheduling the event, but without promise the weather will improve, and the availability of traders, the decision was made to stick to tomorrow - but make some changes. The actual switch-on of the lights will still take place at 6pm tomorrow night.

But , the events leading up to it have changed. Craft and stall traders will be moved indoors. Bedworth Covered Market will be open in the daytime between 8am and 2pm, with Bedworth Methodist Church next door opening from 10am until 1pm with its craft and church fair.

There will also be the huge Christmas Fayre at inside the Civic Hall. It will run from 11am until 4pm and will have everything from performances to drinks and food.

D&K Christmas market traders will now set up at All Saints Church from 2pm until 8pm, with D&K Bedworth Covered Christmas Market open from 4pm to 8pm. The switch-on will take place at 6pm outside all All Saints Church.

Big Storm Bert decision made over Nuneaton Saturday street market

A big decision has been made over Nuneaton's Saturday street market in the wake of Storm Bert. Tomorrow (November 23) the storm is set to bring everything from high winds to snow and freezing rain.

With this and the impact that the winds could have, Nuneaton and Bedworth Borough Council has made a decision over Nuneaton's Saturday market. There will be no stalls set-up.

However, traders will still be allowed to trade from their vehicles. This decision, the council has said, is for safety reasons.

"Saturday's Nuneaton Street Market is going to be a reduced market due to the expected high wind gusts," the councils said. "Traders will be allowed to safely trade from their vehicles only.

"We appreciate your understanding and support." The threat of Storm Bert has led to changes being made to Bedworth's Christmas light switch on.

The annual event is taking place tomorrow (November 23) and while the actual switch-on will still be held at 6pm, the festive outdoor markets have been moved outdoors.
