New 24-hour West Midlands Police base to open in Coventry

West Midlands Police are opening a new 24-hour base in Coventry. Officers will be moving from Sir Henry Parkes Road to Bow Court in Canley.

Today, Police and Crime Commissioner (PCC) Simon Foster said that Canley Police Station, on Sir Henry Parkes Road, was 'no longer fit for purpose.' Officers will be relocating to a 'new and improved' building on Bow Court.

Mr Foster said the move means that Canley will continue to have a West Midlands Police presence that is 'reassuring and strong.' Officers will be 'committed' to keeping people, families, and businesses 'safe and secure.'

Mr Foster said the current building on Sir Henry Parkes Road will be sold. Money acquired from the sale of the building will be reinvested to improve front-line policing in Coventry.

PCC Simon Foster said: “I am pleased to announce that I am delivering on my commitment that Canley will retain a police base. It will ensure officers remain within the community they serve, which is exactly where they need to be.

“Canley will continue to have a reassuring, strong, and visible West Midlands Police presence that will be committed and dedicated to preventing and tackling crime and to keeping people, families, businesses, and the local community safe and secure.”

Chief Superintendent Paul Drover, from Coventry Police, added: “Officers will be relocating to a newer base in the area, which will support local neighbourhood officers, response teams, and a proactive unit. It will see further investment in technology and equipment while ensuring a police presence for local communities.”
