Woman named and charged after death of 'caring' man in CoventryA woman has been charged with the murder of a 'wonderful and caring' man in Coventry. Alfred James Corbett was found critically injured at an address in Foleshill.
Alfred, also known as Jamie, was found with life-threatening injuries at a property on Edmund Road at around 4am yesterday morning (Tuesday, September 17). Paramedics battled to save him, but he was pronounced dead at the scene, West Midlands Police said.
Laura Shanley, 35, was arrested at the scene of the incident and has since been charged with murder, West Midlands Police said. She has been remanded to appear before Coventry Magistrates' Court tomorrow (Thursday, August 19).
Detectives are continuing to investigate the tragedy and have urged those with information to get in touch by calling 101. Information can also be provided anonymously to Crimestoppers.
In a statement issued this evening (September 18), West Midlands Police said: “We have charged a woman with murder after a man died at an address in Coventry. Laura Shanley was arrested yesterday (September 17) in Edmund Road and has been charged with the murder of Alfred James Corbett.
“Alfred, also known as 'Jamie' to friends and family, was found seriously injured just after 4am on September 17. Shanley has been remanded to appear before Coventry Magistrates' Court tomorrow (August 19).
