CCTV captured the terrifying moment a balaclava-clad man aimed a gun at two shopworkers in Nuneaton. It happened in the early hours of this morning (Thursday, August 29).

At around 12.05am, a man wearing a grey tracksuit and a balaclava entered a newsagent on Lutterworth Road. He has been described as 5ft 5in tall with a slim build.

He brandished what appeared to be a black handgun and demanded that two staff members give him money, Warwickshire Police said. Both victims quickly went to the back of the shop, and the suspect fled empty-handed.

Detectives have urged anyone who saw anything or recognises the man pictured to get in touch by calling 101. Information can also be given anonymously to Crimestoppers by calling 0800 555 111.

DI Sartoris said: “We understand residents and business owners will be left deeply concerned following this incident, and I would like to make it clear that there will be an increased police presence in the area over the coming days. Our investigation is progressing, and we would like to ask anyone with information to come forward as soon as possible.”
