Stratford-upon-Avon also made the list of best small towns to visit
Coventry has been named one of the top places to enjoy a staycation. The city was included in a list of places in the UK to enjoy a holiday if you don’t fancy travelling abroad.
And Stratford-on-Avon, in Warwickshire, also made the list, compiled by consumer champions Which?
In the large cities category, Liverpool came top with 84 per cent, while Edinburgh, York, Belfast and Glasgow were also named in the top five. Coventry ranked in 18th place with 63 per cent - just behind Birmingham, WalesOnline reports.
In the small towns category Stratford made the top five, with 76 per cent. Wells came top, followed by Durham, St Andrews and Winchester.
The towns and cities were ranked following a survey of around 4,0000 Which? members who shared their experiences of visiting UK towns and cities in the past two years.
The towns and cities are ranked out of five stars on a number of criteria, which includes accommodation, food and rink, cultural sights and tourist attractions and value for money.
