A serial trouble-maker was caught breaking his ban from Nuneaton town. Daniel Laws was issued with a Criminal Behaviour Order (CBO) in April last year, banning him from going into Nuneaton town centre inside the ring road.

But he was clocked on Stratford Street by town centre officer PC Tom Shorthouse while he was on patrol. The 33-year-old was arrested for breaching his order.

The Tarn Rise resident appeared at Coventry Magistrates Court on Monday (May 20) and received a 20-week prison sentence, suspended for 15 months.

He is also required to pay a victims' surcharge of £154 and to complete 15 days of rehabilitation activities. His CBO remains in place until April 2026.

Sergeant Chris Studd of the Nuneaton and Bedworth Safer Neighbourhood Team said he was issued with the three year order for serial shoplifting and Anti-Social Behaviour (ASB). "Anti-social behaviour, while not treated as a crime, still has a very real negative impact on the community – there is evidence from YouGov to suggest that one-in-four victims of ASB nationally said it made them feel unsafe, and one-in-ten felt the need to move home because of it," Sgt Studd said.

"Criminal behaviour orders give us important powers to target repeated perpetrators of ASB, to keep our communities safe, and to prevent ASB from escalating into worse behaviours in future.”
