An eleven-year-old girl was left injured after being hit by a car in Coventry. Police and paramedics raced to Radford Road at just before 3.30pm yesterday afternoon (April 30).

A cordon was put in place while medics tended to the girl. West Midlands Ambulance Service (WMAS) confirmed that they took her to the University Hospital Coventry and Warwickshire.

"We were called to reports of a collision between a car and pedestrian on Radford Road at 3.25pm. One ambulance, a paramedic officer and the Warwickshire and Northamptonshire Air Ambulance Critical Care Car attended the scene," a WMAS spokesperson said.

"On arrival we discovered one patient, a girl. She was treated for injuries not believed to be serious before being taken to University Hospital Coventry and Warwickshire."

The road closure remained in place for several hours as police launched an investigation into the collision. A West Midlands Police spokesperson has confirmed that the driver involved remained at the scene.

Now an appeal has been launched for any witnesses to the collision to come forward. "We were called to Radford Road, Coventry at around 3.20pm yesterday afternoon (30 Apr) after a child had been knocked over by a car," a police spokesperson said.

"An 11-year-old girl was taken to hospital with a leg injury. The driver remained at the scene and assisted officers with their inquiries. "

"We would urge anyone with dash-cam footage or who was in the area at the time and has any information to get in touch via Live Chat quoting log 3340 of 30 April."
